Chilean Altiplano - San Pedro de Atacama & Hanga Roa 14 Days - 13 Nights.
An amazing trip at Atacama’s desert, the driest in the world, we will visit San Pedro’s town and nearby villages such as Colchane and Putre, the journey will end at the beautiful Easter Island.
Day 1 – Santiago, Chile – City tour.
Our staff will be waiting for you at the airport (SCL) and then we will go to your hotel for your check-in and time to get rest.
The tour begins in the afternoon at Providencia, from there our next stop is Plaza Italia also known as Plaza Baquedano, a very important spot for celebrations and public manifestations. We will head towards Plaza de la Ciudadania and the Moneda palace which is the Chilean government building and its located at Santiago’s downtown, by walking we will reach Plaza de Armas which is a square built at the very heart of the city.
This place is bustling with activities, street painters and much more. Here in Plaza de Armas, we will find the city’s Cathedral, our trip will continue after the van picks us up here. The next highlight is San Cristobal hill which is the tallest hill in Santiago having 710 meters and at the top Virgin Mary and its viewpoint offers an amazing spot to see the whole city.
Later, we will go to the business district, a neighborhood where the Titanium tower is located and also the Costanera center, the tallest building of South America having 198 meters of altitude and 82 floors. The journey will end at your hotel where we will organize the details of the upcoming day.

Day 2 – Santiago – Arica City Tour – Putre.
Departure from our Hotel to the Santiago Airport, flight to the city of Arica where we will be welcomed by our team to go to the Asoagro Market where we will visit part of this city list, then we will go to the Azapa Valley and geoglyphs. Stop at the Azapa Museum, cross to the fertile valley of Lluta, visit the town of Poconchile, Cactus Candelabros, Pukará Copaquilla, lunch at Zapahuira.
After a break, we will continue our tour roasting through the town of Socoroma to finally reach the town of Putre at approximately 18:00 hrs (3,500 m.s.n.m.). free time to begin acclimatization, then dinner and accommodation at La Chakana Lodge.

Day 3 – Putre – Lauca National Park.
Pick up from Putre Our destination is the National Park Lauca a biosphere reserve that covers the foothills and the highlands in the northeast of the region of Arica and Parinacota.
In this district, you can get to know the paradisiacal landscapes of the highlands, 4.300m over sea level, and you can observe the so-called Vizcachas that come out at dusk and dawn. What makes this hike special is the mystical ambiance that surrounds the region. It’s said that there are men living in this area that are over 9000 years old, and sometimes they are still seen, walking the ways of the highlands.
Our journey continues to the viewing point of Chucuyo, which is located in the center of the National Park Lauca that contains a unique ecosystem and extraordinary flora and fauna. Also, we will stop at the viewing point lagoon Cotacotani. This lagoon consists of different lakes and Vulcano islands that are evidence of the high volcanic activity of this zone.
The viewing point is placed in the middle of the wetlands and is perfect to observe the great variety of plants and animals, such as the parinas, ducks, vicuñas, vizcachas, and taguas.
We will be moving on to one of the most beautiful attractions of the National Park Lauca, the lake Chungara, which is located over 4.500 meters over sea level and is one of the highest lakes in the world. It’s magical beauty and the marvelous reflection of the volcano Parinacota amaze thousands of tourists every year. On the other side of the lake, you can see the famous volcanoes Payachata (twins)
Furthermore, we will visit the village of Parinacota, which was declared a national monument. Here you can discover the ancient architecture of the highlands.
The old houses are all made of adobe and have a great historical value, for they contain relicts of the time of colonialism and are symbols of the Aymara-culture. At the end of our excursion, we enjoy a bath in the thermal springs of Jurasi, located in the middle of a small canyon. They are well known for their medicinal purposes, for example, they are recommended in case of rheumatism.

Day 4 – Putre – Las Vicuñas National Park – Colchane
The third day of the tour again starts in Putre, leaving for the National Reserve of the Vicuñas which as its name implies, was created to preserve the vicuña. The flora and fauna of this place are very attractive as they offer a great variety of species, besides being surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Chilean Altiplano.
Furthermore, in the National Reserve of the Vicuñas, you’ll discover majestic sceneries and the towns of Ancuta and Guallatire located at 83 km of Putre at the foot of the volcano Guallatiri. Here you can enjoy the beautiful view of its peak white of snow.
The trip continues, reaching the most captivating destination of this tour, the salt lake Surire. It is located at 4,200 m above sea level. Surire was declared a national monument and is characterized by its enormous majesty.
The presence of salt deposits of intense white color contrast with the pure blue of the water of the lagoons, without a doubt a delight to your eyes. The salt lake of Surire also preserves the existence of valuable species such as the ostrich (ñandu), flamingo, vicuña, alpaca and the llama, among others.
The preciousness of this natural attraction is increased by the presence of different species of flamingos (3 of 6 species that exist) that may live here according to the extraordinary ecosystem. Around noon, after enjoying this wonderful ambiance, we will have a delicious picnic at the thermal baths of Polloquere. Here you may enjoy a relaxing bath.
We will continue the tour to the National Park Vulcano Isluga, located more than 4.000m over sea level, crossing the paths of the highlands, the desert, and the pampa.
The diversity of ecology is impressive and allows you to appreciate different landscapes within the park, such as the lagoon Arabilla, surrounded by small bofedales (wetlands) and forests of Queñua (typical tree of the highlands).
Furthermore, we will be visiting the altiplano communes of Enquelga and Isluga that are located in the middle of a bofedal where Llamas and Alpacas feed themselves. Also, the churches made out of adobe are very beautiful to see. Finally, we will get to our destination Colchane, a village at the border to Bolivia at an altitude of 3.750m that represents the Aymara-culture.

Day 5 Colchane – Cariquima – San Pedro de Atacama.
Breakfast at 08:00 is, then leaving Colchane in the morning. Close to the border on the flanks of the mountains you will discover the giant cactuses that reach about 10 meters and can only be found in this area at an altitude of more than 3.700m.
We will get to the town of Cariquima, a different model of the ancient Aymara life where the central meeting point of the indigenous cultures is located. It is famous for many centuries for its handcrafts. Also, we are going to visit Chusmiza, a paradise at 3.200m over sea level surrounded by marvelous nature.
Afterward, you will get to know the biggest representation of a human being in the world: The Giant of the Atacama, located at the flanks of the Cerro Unita (Unita Mountain) some kilometers of the village Huara. This geoglyph attracts thousands of tourists every year and is considered one of the most impressive geoglyphs in the north of Chile.
Appreciate this figure that measures 86 meters, representing a pre-Inca human. There are many interpretations due to the mystic of this place, for example, people say that the geoglyph represents a god of an ancient culture that habited the area around 1.000 and 1.400 a.C.
We will stop in the village of Huara, a place with excellent climatic and geographic conditions that convert it to a paradise for adventure- and eco-tourism. Here we will have lunch.
Continuing our trip we will arrive at the most impressive nitrate mines of Chile. The offices of Santiago Humberstone and Santa Laura were constructed in the middle of the driest desert in the world and were declared World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO in 2005. These ghost towns have been converted to a tourist attraction visited by hundreds of people every year.
Rust and ruins symbolize the beauty, remoteness, and silence of these ex-nitrate-mines.
Finally, we will cross the desert, appreciating mountains of sand of an undeniable beauty to get to San Pedro de Atacama, a town of great touristic interest. Arrival.

Day 6 Altiplanics Lagoon Mininques – Miscanti.
We leave San Pedro at 8:00 am to start the fifth day of our tour. Our destination is the altiplano lagoons Miñiques and Miscanti, natural sceneries of intense blue color. To get there, we will take the route to Toconao, a colonial village with unique architecture. All its buildings are made out of stone from volcanoes, so-called Liparitas, including its old colonial church with its impressive bell tower.
Moving on, we will get to see the great peaks of the cordillera of the Andes at 4.300m over sea level on our way to the lagoons Miscanti and Miñiques, which approximately were formed a million years ago due to the eruption of the volcano Meñiques. This area is part of the National Reserve of the Flamingos, surrounded by impressive mountains and volcanoes that create an incomparable landscape.
You will have the privilege to enjoy the most beautiful panoramic view over the Jere Valley, located in the surroundings of the village Toconao. The sweet water that flows through this valley helps to establish an extraordinary flora, and also you will have a great view on the Andes on the horizon, marked by the silhouette of the volcano Lincancabur, the symbol of San Pedro de Atacama.
The trip goes on to the biggest treasure of the driest desert in the world, the impressive Salt Lake of the Atacama. Without a doubt, this enormous lake with tons of salt implies an incredible majesty and a unique natural ambiance. The intense color contrast and the numerous small canyons in this area will help to convert your trip into a lifetime experience. The salt lake of the Atacama is one of the biggest in Chile and also includes the main flamingo reserve of the country, the National Reserve of the Flamingos.
We will visit the pre-cordilleran village of Socaire, where you can enjoy a great view of the white sea of the salt lake. Also, this town is known for its handcrafts mainly made out of cow or llama wool. Here you will have the possibility to taste the typical food of the region. Surprise yourself with the fantastic lagoon Chaxa, a place where ducks, alpacas, vicuñas, foxes, and ostriches live. And of course, there are pink flamingos at the shore and flying at the sky of the highland over the salt lake of the Atacama.
Finally, we will reach our destination, the fabulous lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques that present a great variety of different colors. After experiencing these incredible places and enjoying a magic trip we will return to San Pedro de Atacama, one of the main tourist attractions in the world.
Day 7 Salar of Tara – San Pedro de Atacama.
We leave the hotel at 07:00 am to go east on the route that leads to Jama. We will pass the volcano Lincancabur and cross the mountains of the Cordillera of the Andes.
On the way, we visit the wetland of Quepiaco and the precious Salt Lake of Pujas, located at the foot of the mountain Pili. This salt lake offers an incredible spectacle in summer when the pink color of thousands of flamingos contrasts with the white and yellow of the salt lake.
In continuation, we visit the Monks of Pacana (enormous stones which stand upright in the sand of the desert), move on to the Cathedrals and then we stop at the Salt Lake of Tara (part of the National Reserve of the Flamingos). The salt lake is located at an altitude of 4.300 meters and is surrounded by various volcanoes.
You will find rivers and lagoons habited by lamas, very common animals in this area.
The lagoon of the salt lake has a surface of 3 to 25km² depending on the time of the year. The main source of alimentation is the river Zapaleri which comes from Bolivia and gives the possibility for many different kinds of plants to grow and animals to live in this region. You will find flamingos, Guallatas, ducks, vizcachas, foxes, and vicuñas.
Arrive at San Pedro de Atacama at 16H00 hrs.

Day 8 Geiser del tatio- San Pedro de Atacama – Santiago of Chile.
We leave at 04.00 a.m. and get to the Geyser of El Tatio around 06.00 a.m. At an altitude of 4.320 meters and 90 K. northeast of San Pedro, It’s a steamy experience when the water leaves the earth at 85 degrees C. and the steam can get as high as 15 meters. “El Tatio” contains about 40 geysers, has thermal baths and a natural swimming pool.
After this miracle of nature, we visit the Machuca village with its impressive flora and fauna. Around noon we get back to San Pedro de Atacama. Free Afternoon for rest or enjoy the town of San Pedro de Atacama.
In the afternoon we´ll take our transfer back to Calama Airport flight to Santiago. reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 9 Easter Island – Tour Ahu Akivi.
Reception at the airport and transfer lei regularly shared with more people at the Hotel.
In the afternoon begin the tour around 15:00 hrs. from the town of Hanga Roa visiting Ahu Vinapu that was used by the islanders in 1200 AD which includes 3 Ahu. The first has 6 found moai toppled and painted red, the second has a purportedly female moai that had two heads and the third, the oldest, there are only stones removed.
We continue our way to the quarry Puna Pau, archaeological site east of Hanga Roa in a small crater of red scoria, there were obtained the Pukao or touched with MAOI that were crowned. Throughout his old mark out, there are still some unfinished and abandoned.
We continue our tour to Ahu Akivi, which was the first scientifically restored Ahu Island in 1960.
The platform with 7 moai is known for being one of the few located in the center of the island and its statues facing the rising sun. By all accounts, these seven moai represent the seven young explorers sent before the arrival of Hotu Matua’a to recognize the island.

Day 10 Hanga Roa Full Day
Leaving from the town of Hanga Roa around 9:30 pm. we head towards the south-east coast and north-east of the Island to visit the temple Vaihu Ahu, which is located 10 km from Hanga Roa and consists of a well-worked stone platform where we find Moais 8 and 8 pukao scattered nearby. Ahu Akahanga then pass by, also called “king platform.” Legend has it that the tomb of Hotu Matua’a would be near that place.
Here you will find 4 platforms, 12 Moai, 8 Pukao and into the Ahu you can see one of the best-preserved villages of the island.
Then continue the journey to Ahu Tongariki, which with its 15 moai Ahu is the largest island. Following the path, we find Ahu Te Pito Kura, which has the tallest statue of the island in an Ahu erect the moai Paro (10 mts. In height and 85 tons with a Pukao of 11.5 tons) and with this temple is a large ceremonial stone ball that is identified as the navel of the world (Te Pito o Te Henua), which according to legend, was brought to the island by Hotu Matua’a on your boat.
Continuing our journey we arrived at Ahu Nau Nau, building temple complex due to their different levels where you will find 5 Moai with Pukao where we can see petroglyphs on the backs of the statues. We continue our trip up to the volcano Rano Raraku quarry, where they were carved most of the moai on the island using the volcanic rock of the interior and exterior slopes. Can be seen near 400 moais in various stages of milling
To be finishing our adventure, we drove to the beautiful beach of Anakena, a coralline white sand beach chosen for the arrival of his sister Ariki Hotu Matua’ay Avareipua. Anakena is the name of a small cave in a ravine adjacent.
Going back to Hanga Roa, have our last stop on the Fundo Vaitea, founded with an area of 6560.80 hectares, representing 39.6% of the total area of the island and was created to achieve agricultural production capable of supporting the needs of the entire island, which was partly achieved years ago.
Return to Hanga Roa village.

Day 11 Easter Island – Tour to Orongo.
08H00 pick up in the morning half a day visiting the Rano Kau Volcano which is said to be the origin of the Island, later we will visit the city and sacred ceremonial temple of Orongo, we will also be in the so-called navel of the world and in the area of Vinapu (with its interesting walls), the cave Anaka Tai Tangata famous for its ancient paintings, Without a doubt a really interesting morning.
We will return to the town at 14H00 pm and we will have the afternoon free for rest.
In the evening we suggest you have the dinner show at Te Raai restaurant, a unique sample of the Rapa Nui culture.
Te Raa´i
One of the must-see shows in Hanga Roa is to be part of a typical ancestral meal in Pasco where we will observe the preparation of one of its most elaborate dishes called Curanto “Preparation of the pit with hot stones on which different types of meat and fish are cooked”, while the food is made in view of the diners tell us myths and legends about the Origins of Polynesia.
Finally, we will enjoy dinner with an ancestral Polynesian dance and music show. 20 people approximately on stage. – Musicians and Dancers move us to the ancestors with their ancestral rites and dances, showing us a little of the culture through their dance.

Day 13 Santiago – Valparaiso – Viña del Mar.
Breakfast a tour hotel at 08:30 We begin our tour from your hotel in Santiago, a trip of 120 kilometers to the Pacific Ocean. Here we´ll appreciate the diversity of the landscape of the Valley of Curacaví to follow the Valley of Casablanca known for high production of white wine like Sauvignon Blanc, among others.
Arriving at Valparaíso (legislative capital and main port of our country), declared by UNESCO as Cultural Patrimony of Humanity.
This surprised us as their houses nestled in the hills make it a very picturesque city.
Visit the main attractions of the city: Plaza de la Victoria, Plaza Sotomayor, the Navy Glories Memorial Walk 21 May (we will raise this viewpoint to appreciate this beautiful harbor, one of the most important in our country) also We will hike through the hills as the emblematic Cerro Alegre getting on the various lifts to the environment.
Also, have time to visit the house of Pablo Neruda “La Sebastiana”.
Follow the trip until Viña Del Mar, known as the Garden City. Here we can see the flower clock, Casino Games and Reñaca, a place where we will stop for lunch and then take a brief walk along the beach.
Returning to Santiago, on the coastal roadshow and visit Quinta Vergara, place known for its International Music Festival, to return to our hotel in Cerro Alegre, we will have a memorable sunset with a majestic view of the Pacific Ocean.
