A Chilean journey, San Pedro de Atacama & Torres del Paine 11 days
San Pedro de Atacama & Torres del Paine. You will witness the two different kinds of weather you can find in Chile as this trip will take you from San Pedro located at the Atacama desert and from there we will go to Patagonia where Torres del Paine and the glaciers.
Day 1 – Santiago, Chile – City tour.
Our staff will be waiting for you at the airport (SCL) and then we will go to your hotel for your check-in and time to get rest.
The tour begins in the afternoon at Providencia, from there our next stop is Plaza Italia also known as Plaza Baquedano, a very important spot for celebrations and public manifestations.
We will head towards Plaza de la Ciudadania and the Moneda palace which is the Chilean government building and its located at Santiago’s downtown, by walking we will reach Plaza de Armas which is a square built at the very heart of the city.
This place is bustling with activities, street painters and much more. Here in Plaza de Armas, we will find the city’s Cathedral, our trip will continue after the van picks us up here. The next highlight is San Cristobal hill which is the tallest hill in Santiago having 710 meters and at the top Virgin Mary and its viewpoint offers an amazing spot to see the whole city.
Later, we will go to the business district, a neighborhood where the Titanium tower is located and also the Costanera center, the tallest building of South America having 198 meters of altitude and 82 floors. The journey will end at your hotel where we will organize the details of the upcoming day.

Day 2 – Santiago – Calama – San Pedro de Atacama – Moon Valley.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will escort you to the airport to take the flight to Calama, northern Chile. Upon arrival at Calama’s airport, we will take a van to San Pedro de Atacama.
Afternoon: Moon Valley.
We depart from the hotel at 16:00 and we head towards the Mirador (viewpoint) which has an ample view of Andes mountain,
The great Atacama salt flat, the San Pedro’s Oasis and the Salt Mountain. We will go throughout the Death Valley, also known as Mars valley admiring its different features such as labyrinths and canyons in an easy walk of about 35 minutes.
From here we will head towards the Moon Valley stopping by first at the salt caverns, we will admire the very heart of the salt mountain such as gypsum, clay, and salt. We go across the valley visiting the amphitheater, the Three Marys to finalize with a beautiful view of the Andes Mountain.
Our arrival at San Pedro will take place at around 19H50.

Day 3 – Lagunas altiplánicas – Atacama’s Salt flat – Piedras Rojas

Our day begins at 07:00, we depart from the hotel and we go south-going across the Atacama’s salt flat watershed (Cuenca) passing by Tambillo.
We go to Toconao afterward visiting its colonial church and old orchards. The next stop is the Great Atacama’s salt flat, third-largest in the world and main lithium producer on the planet. We will visit the Chaxa lake, protected area and home of a beautiful population of flamingos.
We will continue our trip visiting the Miscanti and Meñiques lakes, located both at 3500 meters of altitude from the sea level and both of them located at the Andes.
This is one of the very few places of nesting of the Tagua cornuda, a bird species endemic of this zone and also we can find here numerous aquatic birds and mammals such as the Culpeo fox. At this point, we take a break to enjoy a snack, as we depart we take the international way in route to Argentina to visit the Talar salt flat, located in a high altitude and nearly at the limit of the Chilean/Argentinian frontiers.
Our return to San Pedro de Atacama will take place at 17:00 approximately.

Day 4 – San Pedro de Atacama – Tatio Geiser – Santiago.
Our departure takes place at 04:00 AM and we head northeast going up in the hills and mountains from the Andes and we arrive at Tatio geysers after 1,5 trip hours.
Located 89 kilometers away from San Pedro and above 4230 meters sea level, this geothermic field encompasses more than 80 active geysers of different sizes.
The best time to visit it is early in the morning due to the temperature its at the lowest level and the difference between it and the boiling water condense the steam. At summer, the temperature here is about -6ºC and in winter it is of about -20ºC
We will have time here to spend it between the geysers, the steam pillars and to also enjoy the thermal waters. We will have breakfast with a view of the geothermic
field and after we will head to Machuca town on our way back. Arrival at San Pedro de Atacama will be at about 12:00.
we head to Calama’s airport to take the flight back to Santiago, reception for our staff and transfer to your Hotel.

Day 5 – Santiago – Punta Arenas – Puerto Natales.
After breakfast, we will go to Santiago airport to take our next flight. Upon arrival at Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport, our staff will greet us and will drive us to Punta Arenas, one of the southernmost cities of the world.
Afternoon: City Tour in Punta Arenas.
At the city our first stop will be the Plaza de Armas and the Indio Patagonico monument, the tradition indicates that after touching the finger the Indio (aboriginal) will return to Patagonia someday. We will go to La Cruz hill where we will have a panoramic view of the city, the Magallanes strait next to the Tierra del Fuego Island.
The graveyard is another highlight to be visited and you will notice Yugoslavian influence on it.
From here we will go and visit the Ovejero Patagonico (Patagonian Sheperd) monument an icon from the region. We will travel to Puerto Natales and we will be transferred to the hotel upon arrival.
